Danny J Lewis attempts 'Sixty Beats in Sixty Minutes' for Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital

This past Friday, as a special Friday Forum Live, Point Blank Music School's Danny J Lewis attempted - in what would be some type of new world record I'm sure -  to create sixty beats in sixty minutes, to raise £1000 for the Great Ormond Street Hospital for children. Did he succeed?...

To donate, visit Virgin Money Giving.

Not only is this a great way to raise money for a great cause, I also think the video llustrates how creativity can flow more freely if you do not over think things, especially in the early stages of a track.

I can fall victim to over-analysing everything about a track right from the beginning, often stifling the creative process from the jump.  I'm sure I'm not the only one to experience this problem.

However, when watching Danny quickly make loop after loop, it was apparent that inspiration for a track frequently came to him and, whilst Danny wasn't feeling every beat he made, there were plenty of loops that could easily become the foundations for fully fledged tracks in the future.

Should you feel inspired by any of the beats Danny made on-the-fly, you're in luck.  In a further act of generosity, Danny's uploaded all the loops onto his soundcloud page for you to use, royalty-free, in your own productions.

It looks like a lot of fun was had and for a great cause, too.  Props to Danny and everyone else involved in this.
