Malice & Mario Sweet 'Enjoy:Like:Love': a Hugely Enjoyable Ride through Funk, Rare Groove, Soul and RnB

Filled with addictive, feel-good jams, Enjoy:Like:Love by husband and wife duo Malice & Mario Sweet is a hugely enjoyable ride through 80’s funk, rare groove, and contemporary soul and RnB. Whilst the project is of consistently high quality, immediate standards include the Summery, West Coast flavour of ‘Flo Joe’; the glossy rare groove of ‘AM/PM’; and the post-Drake RnB of ‘Kortney Luv’ and ‘Fantasee Island’.  The album’s diverse-yet-cohesive production is courtesy of Vitamin D, Evil Needle, Swish, Justo, Jake One and Tall Black Guy .  Vocally, Malice & Mario gel just like a married couple should, celebrating attraction, love and loyalty all over this, one of the albums of the year. Enjoy, like and love Enjoy:Like:Love today.  Enjoy:Like:Love by Malice & Mario Sweet Also available on iTunes .

Make Hip Hop Beats: 'Reclaiming the Remix w/ Maschine' with Devo Springsteen

Another great episode of this Dubspot series.  Host Shareef Islam chops it up with the underated Devo Springsteen about arguably his biggest track 'Diamonds (from Sierra Leone)' for his cousin, Kanye West.  I know quite a few people who wrote off 'Diamonds...' as a 'lazy' track.  I've always thought that was an unfair dismissal of the song. In this video, Springsteen shares just how much work he, 'Ye and Jon Brion put into it. Sidenote: I just might have to write a special Kanye West post in the near future.  Stay tuned. Jake One Behind The Beat: Talks the Making of Chance The Rapper's 'Acid Rain'

One of the most in demand beatmakers in the game, Jake One, talks to The Drum Broker about making the sombre 'Acid Rain' beat for Chance The Rapper. Jake uses an ill Fender Rhodes flip, adding bass and two separate vocal harmony samples on top. The drums are courtesy of Jake's own Snare Jordan drum kit (available here ), providing that classic gritty boom bap drum sound. This is one of my favourite songs (and beats) in a long while: props to Jake One for going behind the scenes in how he made it, and props to the Drum Broker for sharing. Mixing Kick Drums: Pensado's Place 'Into The Lair'

Perennial The New Beatmaker favourite Dave Pensado drops gems on how to smooth out a kick drum which has a severe - in Dave's words - 'peak and valley'.  He goes on to compress the kick, replacing some of the bottom end which was lost in the process.  This makes the kick sound more full than before and will enable it to stand out in the mix more.     Dave also shares his love of mixing an artificial drum sound with a live drum sample : try this technique yourself and let me know how you get on in the comments section below.  Video: youtube.com/user/PensadosPlace  Image: www.fotopedia.com Advertisement : Buy and download drums from some of the best suppliers of industry quality sample kits: theproducerschoice , hiphopdrumsamples, loopmasters and pluginboutique .
